Consumer Protection
Unfortunately, fraudulent, deceptive, and predatory business practices are almost always present, in any economy.
In today’s economy, however, with so many people finding themselves in more difficult financial situations,
sometimes quite suddenly, predatory practices have become more common and harder to recognize. Under better
financial circumstances, consumers are often able to identify a deal as too good to be true. But under financial
stress, the consumer may be less guarded against unsavory schemes.
Particularly in the housing market, there exists a growing number of predatory schemes touted as “help” for owners,
buyers, and sellers, whether to keep a house, get out of a house, or get into a house, but are simply a device for
somebody to take an unearned fee from you without accomplishing the promised “help”.
Before you agree to pay somebody to “help” you, we would be happy to answer questions from you about whether the
“help” is likely to materialize.
If you believe you have been victimized by a deceptive business practice, in any business transaction, we are
willing to speak to you to determine whether something can be done to address such conduct.
